Sahuaro Ranch Park is "the crown jewel" of Glendale, Arizona's parks. Anywhere you go on the historic ranch property you are greeted with the sharp wonderful cawing of peacocks. They are accustomed to people so they will at times wander right up to you, and other times like this one you have to kind of gently chase them to get a good photo of them.

I like the title of this one because it tells a story of me hearing my wife call me over and being agitated because I knew she needed me to respond, but I was focused on getting the photo. Don't worry when I am wrong, I promptly admit it. I am madly in love with her. I hope you will think about being out in the sun doing silly childish things like chasing peacocks because they are just so cool. Life can throw serious and sometimes tragic things at us, but I absolutely insist on enjoying life. If you cherish these little moments in your life and meditate on them and the hard times won't seem so hard and wherever you are I will pray for you.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0614/2649/9650/files/I-Know-I-Know-I-am-trying-to-watch-the-Peacocks_001.jpg?v=1767289667
the-depot-9x12-oil-on-canvas-board-original
Saturday At The Depot - 9x12 Oil on Canvas Board - ORIGINAL

Number 1 of 4 Plein Aire paintings around Cheyenne, Wyoming in early fall of 2025 and finished in my studio. As an integral part of the nation’s first transcontinental railroad, the Union Pacific played a central role in the development of rail transportation in America. The Cheyenne Depot was completed in 1887. The Cheyenne Depot is the last of the grand 19th century depots remaining on the transcontinental railroad. Today it is surrounded by a plaza that hosts summer entertainment and new year celebrations. The building itself is home to the Depot Museum, a Brewpub and Restaurant, and visitor center. When my kids were little they were crying how much further? Mom and I would patiently wait while they took numerous rest stops along the way to the top. Now that Mom and I are older they patiently wait while we cry inside thinking how much further (ha ha). Yeah it can be challenging physically to climb it, but most able bodied people can do it with a little patience and determination. The hike is 100% worth it because along the way you get views like this. ♫ Oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds thy hands have made ♫

A Pause on the Filbert Steps

In my travels to San Francisco, I have had the privilege of doing a lot of sightseeing. Far and away my favorite thing to do is simply walk the Filbert Steps. It's free! with enchanting cliffside fields of flowers and breath-taking views of the bay. The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill may often be seen along the Filbert Street steps. The climb can be strenuous with hundreds of steps scaling up the East side of Telegraph Hill. By this point featured in my painting it is nice to take a pause and soak in the scenery and catch your breath.
